Project Description

Project Description

The market demand for lifelong learning is increasing day by day. However, the content of ABC Education Platform is mostly concentrated on primary and secondary education, making it difficult to meet the needs of adult users. To expand the user group and fill the gap in workplace soft-skills learning, our team launched an expansion project for lifelong learners, focusing on enhancing workplace soft skills, including communication, teamwork, time management, and leadership.

PROJECT GOALS

  • Expand Content Offering: To broaden ABC Education’s platform to cater to lifelong learners, particularly focusing on adults seeking continuous skill development.

  • Enhance Engagement: Implement personalised and practice-oriented learning paths to improve user engagement and retention.

  • Fill Skill Gaps: Address the lack of accessible, high-quality training for soft skills such as communication, leadership, teamwork, and time management.

DELIVERABLES

  • Optimised prototype of the education platform, covering personalised learning paths, AI chatting and practice functions, and interactive learning content.

  • High-fidelity prototype and user test feedback analysis.

Personalised Learning Paths

Personalised Learning Paths

Based on users' habits and career goals, AI adjusts learning suggestions in real-time to ensure flexible and efficient learning.

AI Real-time Interactive Practice

AI Real-time Interactive Practice

Conduct simulated workplace scenario conversations with AI assistants to obtain feedback and suggestions and improve skills.

Micro-learning & Interactive Videos

Micro-learning & Interactive Videos

For micro-learning, there are interactive videos and mini - tests to enhance the learning effect.

Community Support

Community Support

The learning community promotes users' experience sharing, feedback acquisition, and guidance seeking.

QUALITIES & ADVANTAGES

This project is based on user research, follows the Double-Diamond Design Model, and organically integrates functions such as personalised learning paths, micro-learning, and AI interactive chatting, fully combining user needs and market research results. The design emphasises the flexibility of learning, immediate feedback, and interactive experience, which has strong attraction for lifelong learners and can effectively improve the user retention rate.

IMPACT

  • Expands ABC Education’s user base by attracting adults and professionals.

  • Enhances practical value, offering immediate results in real-life APP.

  • Promotes continuous learning across all age groups, supporting a lifelong learning culture.

PROCESS OVERVIEW

01

“DISCOVER”

Research Phase

Market research (competitor analysis), semi-structured user interviews also online ethnography found gaps in soft-skills training, focusing on fragmented learning and personalised needs.

02

“DEFINE”

Ideation Phase

Create user personas, flowchart and journey maps, identify interaction points, and lay the foundation for the recommendation system.

03

“DEVELOP”

Prototype Phase

Build low-fidelity wireframes in Figma, iterate mid-fidelity prototypes after usability testing and system usability scale(SUS), then optimise AI and recommendation functions, also the layout design of interface.

04

“DELIVER”

Final Deliver Phase

Complete the high-fidelity prototype, make adjustments after the second round of user tests, and the micro-learning and personalised recommendation are recognised.

SKILL DEVELOPMENT

User Research &

Demand Analysis

Through in-depth interviews with lifelong learners, the ability to extract core needs from user feedback has been enhanced to ensure user - centred design.

Interaction Design & Prototype Iteration

Use Figma to build low-fidelity to high-fidelity prototypes, and optimise the interaction experience, especially the AI interactive function, through user tests.

Agile Project Management & Team Collaboration

Manage the project according to the agile model, be responsible for project time management, user interview research, and promote design decisions, and improve team collaboration and project management capabilities.

CHALLENGES & REFLECTION

Time Management

During the mid-stage of the project, due to the tight schedule of user interviews and feedback collection, we failed to fully optimise all the functions in the initial testing. This led to the necessity of accelerating the iteration of certain design decisions in the later stage. Reflecting on this, we will reserve more time for the research and testing phases in future projects.

Technical Limitations

Although we introduced AI and VR technologies in the design, due to the current technological constraints, the immersive experience in VR scenes could not be fully achieved. Through team discussions, we found alternative solutions, such as simulating certain scenes through interactive videos to make up for the technological shortcomings.

Diversity of User Needs

As the needs of lifelong learners are relatively scattered, we need to find a balance between personalisation and standardisation. By designing diverse learning modules and content classifications, we have successfully met the needs of most users, but the content classification can be further refined in the future.
